Eating With the Seasons: Food, Soil, Weather & Health & Why Coast Peak Coffee

Hello, friends and neighbors,

Food is the one thing every living person needs—but eating should be about more than simply consuming enough to fill our stomachs. We should be eating to nourish our health, support the land, and help our communities survive.

Nature provides different foods throughout the year for a reason. Sunlight, rainfall, soil temperature, daytime heat, and cool nights all influence when a crop grows, ripens, and develops its best flavor. A tomato needs summer warmth, while leafy greens become sweeter during cooler weather. Every season brings us something different, and that variety helps us enjoy a wider range of nutrients, colors, flavors, and textures.

When we eat seasonally, we are working with nature instead of constantly demanding that food be produced outside its natural growing cycle. Seasonal food can be harvested closer to ripeness, travel fewer miles, and reach our tables fresher and full of flavor.

But where our food comes from matters just as much as what we eat.

We should be eating food grown in soils we know, by farmers and ranchers we know and trust. Healthy food begins with living soil and clean water. Farmers who truly understand what it takes to grow clean, safe, fresh food also understand that protecting the health of our soil and water is vital to every living being.

This is not just about producing more food. It is about survival—ours, the farmers’, the soil’s, and the generations that will come after us.

At Nature’s Touch Nursery & Harvest, we work with farms and farmers who share these values, including our own Nature’s Farm. We believe in caring for the soil, protecting clean water, respecting the seasons, and providing food that we are proud to feed to our own families.

Our Harvest Boxes are created around what California farms are harvesting each week. The contents naturally change with the weather and seasons, giving you an opportunity to eat a greater variety of fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the year.

COASTAL PEAKS COFFEE—GOOD COFFEE FROM GOOD PEOPLE

I carry Coastal Peaks Coffee because it tastes wonderful, it is roasted by good, honest, ethical people whom I feel proud to support—and it never hurts my stomach.

Knowing the people behind our food and drinks matters. Coastal Peaks purchases green coffee beans and roasts them in its own micro-roastery, creating fresh, flavorful coffee with care.

The Whole Bean French Roast Deep Mahogany is dark, rich, and currently available for $14.99. Add a bag to your Harvest Box or pickup order while it is available.
