Not to be confused with the dwarf English 'Hidcote Blue', this lovely cultivar of lavender is actually a lavandin, growing much larger, flowering later and with a much stronger scent. The flowers on 'Hidcote Giant' are big, fat, and juicy looking, with dark violet purple flowers and greenish violet calyces. Even one plant in the garden makes for a nice specimen, very showy! The fragrance is stronger with a hint of cedar, and bloom time is usually late June. This plant is great for cut flowers and also for lavender wands.
